When it comes to videos, getting in front of the camera is a daunting task. There are also common self-limiting beliefs I hear about:
“I don’t like the way I look or sound.”
“I don’t know what to say.”
“This is new to me. I don’t want to look silly.”
“What if I get a ‘negative’ response?
An important thing to keep in mind is that all of these concerns are perfectly normal and you’re not alone.
To overcome your own self-limiting beliefs keeping you from the camera, I’d like to recommend the 3 R’s: Remind Myself; Rewatch It—DON’T; and Repetition
For Remind Myself, you have to consciously remind yourself that you have value to bring. The goal of this method is to cast aside your fears and realize your worth and what you have to offer.
Re-Watch It—DON’T is a strategy that I always emphasize to my clients. By rewatching your videos, you are creating more barriers to clicking that upload button. They say the key is to think of it as a voicemail.
The last R is Repetition—meaning that the more you upload those videos, the more comfortable you’ll feel. After about five videos, there will be almost a difference that you can feel in your body with that anxiety just going away.
Learning how to become confident in your video abilities doesn’t come easy to everyone.
If you still need more time to appear on camera, why don’t you start creating videos without being on camera? I have some ways on how you can do that.
